2017 Most Underrated Book Award Shortlist

Every year, hundreds and thousands of books are published, and some are awarded. However it’s certain some fantastic books are missed out from any of famous or not too famous awards. Why we read is a very complicated and very individual. Therefore, we need diversity and dare to experience new genres and areas.

‘Celebrates hidden gems—engaging and creative books across all genres that deserve to reach a wider audience’, The Small Press Network (SPN) has announced the shortlist for the 2017 Most Underrated Book Award.

The shortlisted titles are:

  • The Island Will Sink (Briohny Doyle, Brow Books) (Fiction)
  • The Invisible War (Ailsa Wild, Briony Barr, Gregory Crocetti, Ben Huchings & Jeremy Barr, Scale Free Network) (Comic book)
  • Loopholes (Susan McCreery, Spineless Wonders) (microfiction)
  • Horse Island (Christina Kennedy, Zabriskie Books) (Non fiction)

The award ‘highlights the diverse, risk-taking and creative work being published by independent publishers’, said SPN.
