The Literacy group met recently in the Dharug Room for our usual monthly meeting and we welcomed a new member. The theme for May was “Escape”. The article we read was “Does Harry Potter magic take away the stresses of modern life? Adults seek refuge from reality on children’s fantasy” by Anna Edwards. We discussed the ideas that this article raised and the references to other children’s classics led to an interesting side discussion. Some members of the group weren’t familiar with the authors Lewis Carroll, Roal Dahl and Kenneth Graham who wrote childrens fantasy classics. There was also an article on statistics and work vs leisure. A lively discussion ensured and we all agreed that life work balance is best.
