We found this an important book which raised significant ethical issues. The group was divided as to whether we liked the writing style, with some describing it as formulaic.

There was a lot of discussion about whether it was ethical to conceive a child for specific genetic requirements. There was a majority view that it was unethical but if you were in the same situation as this family, who knows?

It was agreed by most that while no one described the book as enjoyable most of the group would recommend it as thought provoking.
