Tania McCartney

The coming author Tania McCartney is an author, publisher, editor and book reviewer. She runs literary site Kids Book Review, writes for several online sites and is a senior editor for Australian Women Online where she edits Bedtime Stories, a literacy initiative in support of National Year of Reading 2012. Tania is also an ACT Ambassador for the National Year of Reading.

Tania has lived and worked in France, Englandand, China, specifically Beijing, where she spent four years with her young family. During her time in the capital, she was an editor for several English-language expat magazines, and wrote two books including Beijing Tai Tai: Life, laughter and motherhood in China’s Capital (Exisle Publishing, 2012) – a humourous and moving account of life as a Western woman in a city undergoing phenomenal cultural and structural change.

An advocate for literacy and children’s education, her current children’s books include Riley and the Grumpy Wombat: A journey around Melbourne (Ford Street Publishing 2011) and Australian Story: An Illustrated Timeline (National Library ofAustralia 2012).

Tania adores books, travel, photography and marshmallows. She lives inCanberrawith her husband and two kids, in a paper house at the base of a book mountain.
