Book Review – Big Little Lies

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

ABOUT THE BOOK

A murder… A tragic accident… Or just parents behaving badly? What is indisputable is that someone is dead.

Big Little Lies will take you on a roller coaster ride with the secrets of the three women.

Madeline is a force to be reckoned with. She is funny, biting, and passionate; she remembers everything and forgives no one. Celeste is the kind of beautiful woman who makes the world stop and stare but she is paying a price for the illusion of perfection. New to town, single mum Jane is so young that another mother mistakes her for a nanny. She comes with a mysterious past and a sadness beyond her years. These three women are at different crossroads, but they will all wind up in the same shocking place.

Big Little Lies is a brilliant take on ex-husbands and second wives, mothers and daughters, schoolyard scandal, and the little lies that can turn lethal.

The Guardian’s ‘100 best books of the 21st century’

The Guardian recently shared their list of the ‘100 best books of the 21st century’ and we’re excited to see who made the cut.

#97 is part of my all-time favourite series of books, I enjoyed the movie adaptation of #65 and I love the copy of #47 I got for my birthday. #21 is currently in my pile of books to read and I can’t wait for the last book in the trilogy of #1 to come out next year. Check out their list to discover who made it and who missed out.                                       Nisa.

Thursday, the 19th of September is Reading Hour – a once in a year event when we stop what we’re doing to disappear into the world of books. Library staff are excited to be sharing some of their reads with you. I’ll be reading the new Margaret Atwood book The testaments, Jody will be listening to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Katherine will be engrossed in A woman like her: the short life of Qandeel Baloch by Sanam Maher. Check out some recommendations for our junior audience by Antonia and Sandra below:                                                                                              Nisa
