This month, the Chinese Reading Group at Dundas Library, one of Parramatta Branches, has discussed the reading theme Love2read to wrap up their end of the year reading. They discussed their reading as well as why they love to read.
Some of the members mentioned that the reading group enabled them to share their common interests and to learn from each other. One member told the group about the recent publications in China after taking a trip over there. She also shared a book ‘There is a wisdom called tolerance’ and her reading experiences with others.
All members felt if reading becomes a habit that would fulfill their desire for knowledge and satisfaction of life.
Some members talked about the need to learn some Australia history. Reading is a very efficient way to know Australia and its stories.
Finally, a member shared a citation with everyone – if you want to complain about your life, think about someone who’s already left this world; if you want to complain about your work, think about those who couldn’t find a job; if you want to complain about your child then think about those who desperately look for ways to get one. After all, it is those who are the less fortunate ones that you need to think about when you feel bad about your life – it all depends on how you look at your life.
The Chinese people say reading tenth of thousands books is like walking tenth of thousands steps. There are millions of views and scenery on the journey. Why not start to taste it and feel it?
