The reading hour

On Saturday 25th August 2012, Parramatta City Library celebrated The Reading Hour throughout all its six branches in the morning. This was part of the National Year of Reading and the aim is to promote the benefits of reading. That “sharing a book with your child for 10 minutes a day, an hour a week” encourages lifelong social end educational benefits. Continue reading

Book review – Ape house by Sara Gruen

I picked up this book after reading Water for elephants by Sara Gruen, although this book didn’t quiet measure up to Water for elephants, I really enjoyed it, and recommend it, especially if you love animals. We meet Bonzi, Sam, Mbongo, Makena, Lola and Jelani, these bonobos apes are not only intelligent but they can communicate with humans using sign Language.
