The Second Tuesday Book Club met recently in the library to discuss Anne Bronte’s novel Agnes Grey. They found it to be a good read – not enjoyed as much as other Bronte novels, but gave an insight into women and the lot of those who were educated with little means of support. Agnes gives us an understanding of the position of governess in wealthy and / or upper class homes.
The Last Thursday Bookclub recently met to discuss Hanna’s Daughters, a story of three generations of Swedish women. Three generations of women trying to understand their lives and the lives led by the generations before them. Continue reading

This month the First Wednesday Book Group discussed Marks Zusak’s book The Book Thief. This book was praised highly by the group for the characters and style and rated as one of the best books they have read. It has won awards in Australia and overseas. Continue reading
