NSW Premier’s Literary Awards Shortlist

The NSW Premier’s Literary Awards are held annually. They are the richest and longest running state-based literary awards in Australia and cover all genres of writing. The shortlisted titles for the 2022 Awards have been released with the winners being announced on 16 May during the Sydney Writers’ Festival.

People’s Choice Award – Select your favourite from the books shortlisted for the Christina Stead Prize for Fiction to enter the draw to win one of two prize packs of all six books. Click on the image above or here to enter the competition. Voting closes Sunday 1st May.

Christina Stead Prize for Fiction – Shortlist

The award may be made for a novel or a collection of stories. Works of creative non-fiction, including fictionalised memoirs, are eligible for consideration under this category. The award commemorates Christina Ellen Stead (1902–1983), Australian novelist and short story writer.

Tales of Love

It is that time of year, with Library Lovers’ Day (perhaps better known as Valentine’s Day) just around the corner on 14 February when you may be inspired to pick up a tale of love. The library has romantic titles of all kinds and for all ages from sweet romance to shifter romance to sexy romance and everything in between. Here are just some of the tales of love we have in our libraries.

For those of you who enjoy listening and reading online to a book then why not visit the ‘Escape into Love‘ list on our BorrowBox site or for even more eBook titles visit the ‘Love is in the air‘ list on our Wheelers site.

Finally don’t forget that if you visit one of the City of Parramatta Libraries from Friday 11 February to Monday 14 February, borrow one of our ‘blind date’ books and ‘rate the date’ you can enter our Library Lovers’ Day promotion to win a great prize.

Recognising IDPwD

Recognising IDPwD Program3 December is International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD). It is a United Nations observed day aimed at increasing public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.
City of Parramatta has created a program of events and resources in recognition of and to showcase people with a lived experience of a disability.

  • Join the panel of speakers at Riverside Theatres ‘Stages of Change’ event;

Library Lovers’ Day Wrap-up

On Friday 14 February City of Parramatta Libraries celebrated Library Lovers’ Day! and encouraged our members to ‘Uncover Something New’!

Available for loan were a selection of specially wrapped books and hidden inside were seven Silver tickets and one Golden Ticket. Not to mentioned book themed trivia sheets and a special ‘Uncover Something New’ bookmark in each specially wrapped book.

Library members enjoyed selecting a ‘blind book’ to read. With one cute little boy lovingly selecting two books for his Mum.

One lucky library member at our Ermington Branch Library was the finder of the GOLDEN TICKET.
